Scope of work: New Masonry

1st FLOOR PERIMETER CMU

  • Furnish, set-up, maintain, dismantle and remove all equipment (forklift, tube scaffolding, ladders, hand tools, etc.) necessary for the masonry portion of project.
  • Furnish and install standard gray 8” CMU necessary for erecting new masonry walls from grade to bottom of second floor precast deck at North, South, East and partial West (adjacent to overhead door) elevations.  Block is to be installed in standard running bond using natural gray type ‘S’ mortar.  Mortar joints are to be tooled concave, brushed and tooled to a final finish.
  • Furnish and install fully grouted bond beam at the top of masonry walls with two (2) grade 60 #5 rebar installed.
  • Vertical reinforcement to be one (1) grade 60 #6 rebar installed every 48” O.C. horizontally with additional vertical reinforcing bars adjacent to openings and per Masonry Pier Schedule as per structural drawings. CMU cores containing vertical reinforcing bars to be grouted solid
  • Horizontal reinforcement to be hot-dipped galvanized ladder type wire installed in masonry coursing every 16” O.C. vertically.
  • Install steel beam and plate lintels with bearing plates furnished by others on project site.

1st FLOOR INTERIOR CMU

  • Furnish, set-up, maintain, dismantle and remove all equipment (forklift, tube scaffolding, ladders, hand tools, etc.) necessary for the masonry portion of project.
  • Furnish and install standard gray 8” CMU necessary for erecting new masonry walls from grade to bottom of second floor precast deck at interior of 1st floor (including elevator shafts and stairwells).  Block is to be installed in standard running bond using natural gray type ‘S’ mortar.  Mortar joints are to be tooled concave, brushed and tooled to a final finish.
  • Furnish and install fully grouted bond beam at the top of masonry walls with two (2) grade 60 #5 rebar installed.
  • Vertical reinforcement to be one (1) grade 60 #5 rebar installed every 48” O.C. horizontally.  CMU cores containing vertical reinforcing bars to be grouted solid.
  • Horizontal reinforcement to be hot-dipped galvanized ladder type wire installed in masonry coursing every 16” O.C. vertically.
  • Furnish and install one (1) Hohmann & Barnard PTA-420 (hot-dipped) partition top anchor attached to precast concrete deck using two (2) ¼” * 2¾” Tapcon concrete anchors at interior 8” CMU partition walls every 48” O.C. (including one (1) anchor at wall ends and wall corners).
  • Furnish and install fully grouted bond beam lintels with two (2) grade 60 #5 rebar at locations per structural drawings.
  • Install hollow metal door frames and beam and plate steel lintels furnished by others on project site.

GROUTING OF CMU WALLS TO PRECAST DECK

Furnish and install CG-86 Non-shrink Grout as manufactured by W.R. Meadows between the top of first floor perimeter walls and interior CMU walls and precast concrete deck as per specifications.

ELEVATOR SHAFT & CENTER STAIRWELL (2nd Floor-Roof)

  • Furnish, set-up, maintain, dismantle and remove all equipment (forklift, tube scaffolding, ladders, hand tools, etc.) necessary for the masonry portion of project.
  • Furnish and install standard gray 8” CMU necessary for erecting new elevator shaft and stairwell masonry walls from the 2nd floor deck through the roof as per drawings.  Block is to be installed in standard running bond using natural gray type ‘S’ mortar.  Mortar joints are to be tooled concave, brushed and tooled to a final finish.
  • Furnish and install fully grouted bond beam at floor/roof joist bearing heights and at the top of masonry walls with two (2) grade 60 #5 rebar installed.
  • Vertical reinforcement to be one (1) grade 60 #6 rebar installed every 48” O.C. horizontally.  CMU cores containing vertical reinforcing bars to be grouted solid.
  • Horizontal reinforcement to be hot-dipped galvanized ladder type wire installed in masonry coursing every 16” O.C. vertically.
  • Furnish and install steel angle lintels for temporary openings in masonry elevator shaft.  Steel is to be shop primed.
  • Furnish and install fully grouted bond beam lintels with two (2) grade 60 #5 rebar at locations per structural drawings.
  • Install elevator hoist beam(s) and elevator brackets furnished by others on project site.

BRICK VENEER

  • Furnish, set-up, maintain, dismantle and remove all equipment (forklift, hydro-mobile scaffolding, tube scaffolding, ladders, hand tools, etc.) necessary for the masonry portion of project.
  • Furnish and install queen size face brick necessary to erect new masonry veneer exterior walls as per drawings.  Brick is to be installed in standard running bond using natural gray type ‘N’ mortar.  Mortar joints are to be tooled concave, brushed and tooled to a final finish.
  • Furnish and install soldier accent headers/banding as per drawings (king size brick cut to coursing).
  • Veneer to be anchored to substrate using one (1) two-piece adjustable anchor installed every 16” O.C. horizontally and vertically.
  • Furnish and install steel angle lintels for openings in masonry veneer.  Steel is to be shop primed.
  • Furnish and install Mortar Net (or equal) in wall cavity at the base of masonry walls and over openings in masonry as per specifications.
  • Furnish and install 40mil self-adhesive flashing over a 1½” stainless steel drip edge at the base of masonry walls and over openings in masonry with plastic cell vent “weeps” installed in masonry head joints every 24” O.C.  Flashing at areas of framed substrate to have termination bar installed across the top.
  • Furnish and install caulking at brick control joints.

BRICK SCREEN WALLS

  • Furnish, set-up, maintain, dismantle and remove all equipment (tube scaffolding, ladders, hand tools, etc.) necessary for the masonry portion of project.
  • Furnish and install queen size face brick necessary to erect new 2-wythe masonry screen walls with masonry piers (CMU at masonry piers included in perimeter CMU cost) as per drawings.  Brick is to be installed in standard running bond (with vented pattern) using natural gray type ‘N’ mortar.  Mortar joints are to be tooled concave, brushed and tooled to a final finish. 

ADHERED CAST STONE VENEER

  • Furnish, set-up, maintain, dismantle and remove all equipment (tube scaffolding, ladders, hand tools, etc.) necessary for the masonry portion of project.
  • Furnish and install 2” thick (based on 12” * 24” units) adhered cast stone veneer building exterior at locations per drawings.
  • Furnish and install ¾” weep screed at the base of cast stone veneer.
  • Installation to consist of covering sheathing with two (2) layers of felt paper, fastening metal lathe to sheathing over felt paper and applying scratch coat to metal lathe and lastly cast stone veneer.  Stone is to be installed in standard running bond.
  • Once stone has set, mortar joints are to eb grouted using natural gray type ‘N’ mortar and tooled to a final finish.
