The use of synthetic stone (Cultured Stone in this example) can be an effective alternative to natural stone. Because of the absence od a foundation ledge to support the weight of natural stone, synthetic stone was used. The stone was applied directly to the sheathing after installation of a wire mesh. This eliminated load bearing concerns that arise when using traditional masonry materials.
